So. Not more than four months after the previous breakdown, my laptop has decided to go all broken on me again. It's the same problem it had last time (the video card went spluttz). This may be because I never actually REPLACED the video card, I simply found a guy who said he could fix it and... Well, it seemed for a while there like he had! Everything was back to normal, running fine. I mean, sure, all my video-playing software was still fucked, but everything else? FINE.

I came home from work this week to find, though, not only has the previous problem returned, it's multiplied. Now, not only is my display royally fucked up even WORCE than it was, it to turn on successfully unless I boot up in safe mode, at which point.. everything works JUST FINE. Which is lame, because that means the problem is VERY FIXABLE, and I just DON'T KNOW HOW. Also not working? Sound. I have lost all sound. LAME.

A pox on my limited computer skillz.

What does this mean? Well the important bits are that I can no longer really scan, and since I can't access my External HD, I can't access the things that were scanned and saved there (as is my way with arts and stuffs). So... yeah. *cough* We're gonna be experiencing a bit of a delay in- thiiiings. We'll see how fast I can't fix this mess.


I AM UNAMUSED.


On a more positive note though, I got my flight back to Amurika for Christmas booked, for a FREAKISHLY good price. Not only am I going home for christmas this year, BUT, I am also going to stop and visit two of my most FAVOURITEST PERSONS IN THE THE WHOLE WORLD, and . Why is this? Because they're the fuckin' bomb, that's why.

We're going to play Evo drinking games. It'll be fucking MAGICAL.

And then we'll all die of alcohol poisoning.

BUT IT'LL BE A HAPPY DEATH, DAMMIT.

So I was watching Ascension the other day, and it struck me... I've never sat down and worked out exactly who was who out of Apocalypse's Horsemen. And,because I'm a glutton for punishment, I'm curious what people think.

Personally, I'd have to say that Professor X was definitely Death. With that Scythe, I'd say it's hard to argue.

From there, I'd say Mystique as Pestilence, Magneto as War, and Storm as Famine. Mystique takes on the form of several... unpleasant creepy crawlies, and Magneto's ties to "war" aren't exactly slight. Storm gets stuck with Famine mostly because it's what's left over but also for highly less PC reasons >_>;;

Whelp. I've been in Japan for a full year now. I don't think I can remember the last time I've been in a place for a full year. I usually go home for the holidays, so... yeah. A little bit of reflection, and all that jazz.

I've decided to clean out my inbox. There are currently.... 2097 messages and 369 Deviations. ... So even if I commented on one Deviation a day, and cleared 5 messages, I still wouldn't be done a year from now. I have no-one to blame but myself. Myself, and those FREAKS WHO KEEP FAVE BOMBING ME. D<

Anywho. If you had a deviation you wanted me to comment on/ see.... send me a note, and I'll get on that... no, really... >_>... Because otherwise I'm never gonna see it. Well, I probably saw it, I just.... yeah. Oi.

I may be slowing up on the EE pacing a bit. I have some other comics I want to work on, but... I don't see any reason I can't do ALL. We'll see. Or something. YAY VAGUENESS.

I'm also finally doing the drawings I promised people forever ago. So yay for that.

I'm really very happy with the service I get here at DA. For all of NO money they host at virtually any resolution all the fan art I could care to create. They've got an aesthetically pleasing layout (or did.... but that's another rant, plus: their prerogative to change) and overall, are an absolutely top notch web sight.

The users, however, are another matter.

There are a few definitions for "favourite" but the one which rings the most clear to me, (from those offered at dictionary.com) is "preferred above all others and treated with partiality." In my mind, something actually has to... well, be a favourtie before I even think of hitting that fave button. The only other exception is perhaps gift art, made for me. But even those hold a special place to me, and are works I like to revisit, frequently. Oh, and the occasional tutorial or reference page. Tutorials included, I have.... seven pages of faves. And even that makes me go "ehh" because that seems like a LOT to me.

Now, clearly other people don't agree with me, but I find it amazingly frustrating and indescribably annoying when I log into deviant art to see "131 Messages." This happened to me the other day, as a matter of fact. 3 girls, who shall remain nameless, fave-bombed my entire gallery. Nine pages of fave from one, and another page from the other two. out of 110 faves, between them, they left one comment.... TELLING me that she had faved my work.

Really?

Really?

This in addition to the usual influx of faves I find in my box.

Really.

Now, I don't want to come of like an ungrateful bitch (too late) but this... is really annoying. I should also mention that out of the 111 messages I had to sort through from them, any "+watch" messages were NOT included.

This baffles me.

How is it you like my work SO MUCH that you fave almost my entire gallery, indiscriminately, but you think "Eh... clearly she's hit her peek, and will NOT be creating any more work worth viewing EVER AGAIN. I need not return to this place."

Not to mention! When you fave my entire gallery, you've essentially just made a copy of my gallery at your page. You know where else you can find that? ON MY PAGE. If you're really... REALLY chasing your own tail and almost piddling yourself out of sheer "NEED TO HAVE" at my shitty gallery, why not save yourself all the clicking, and just WATCH me. Then, when ever you like, you can come back and Poof! Like magic, all the pictures are there gathered for you in one place.

MAGIC.

I've resigned myself to getting faves without comments. Hell, I'm guilty of that one, though I try, anymore, to leave a comment when I fave telling them why, but mass gallery faves still piss me off.

This is why I think DA needs to limit the number of faves per day to like... 1. Non transferable. However, this would likely start riots, so I resign myself to have ranting bitch sessions with my friends, and to write angry journal updates.


Edit: Felt I should mention.... I'm basically guilty of this exact behaviour in my mod persona over at EOC. I feel that because the EOC is a CLUB, and not an individual's art page, though, the faves are treated more as a comprehensive collection of ALL the evo art on DA. Which is why I think there should be a seperation between "faves" and "collecting" but TOO LATE. 6.6
